Who makes the Image of Yonkers on Instagram?
Two Photographers who give their audience captured moments, frozen in time from the perspective of the 21st Century. They redefine images and context from history that may have been forgotten; Creating a space where their eye for the world is captured.
Inspiration
What inspires them to keep pushing is Yonkers, which has many historical locations that are severely overlooked. There are many examples of locations that capture time in the essence of the present. Jess and Anthony Cardone capture Yonkers from a different Perspective. An Idea that came to mind on one of their tips from Massachusetts. Coming back home with a new vision that would redefine Historic Yonkers!
People do things out of the spirit of giving us a version of how they view the world. Below are four posts that spoke volumes.
Each image can be interacted with to extend Jess and Anthony's vision of Yonkers.
Established 1883
Image of Yonkers worked with Yonkers Public Library and captured archived photos to bring them back to life.
The Yonkers Public Library in Yonkers, New York, consists of three branch libraries. The main branch is the 'Yonkers Riverfront Library' which overlooks the Hudson River and New Jersey Palisades.
The Yonkers Public Library is a founding member and the largest member of the Westchester Library System (WLS), a consortium of 38 libraries serving the residents of Westchester County. The Yonkers Public Library operates with a budget of over $9 million,
Untermyer Park and Gardens is a historic 43-acre (17 ha) city public park, located in Yonkers, New York in Westchester County, just north of New York City.
The park is a remnant of Samuel Untermyer's 150-acre (61 ha) estate "Greystone". Situated on the steep land arising from the eastern bank of the Hudson River to the bluff on top of it, the park's principal feature is the Walled Garden, inspired by ancient Indo-Persiangardens, in which are found a small Grecian-style open-air amphitheater with two opposing sphinxes crouching atop paired Ionic columns.
In an article in The American Architect he complained about the "resulting incoherence [due to the fact that] lacking a tradition at home, our minds are furnished with pictures of every sort of formal garden." He regretted that the U.S. had "no pure historic style" of its own.
Thoughts of the Mind Co. would argue that Yonkers has created its own pure historic style that has been replicated through many towns in the United States of America. Uniquely Yonkers, the citizens inspire their vision of modern Architecture and agriculture from a style that stems back from Ancient Greece. In 2023 a campaign of restoration is blossoming.
This will mark the End of a historical era that was removed to make space for the growing ambitions of the United States of America. Converting old technology for newer vehicles and other expressions of the free market, Innovative times, and free will.
#2 Trolley - Palisade Ave at Roberts Ave - The End of the Line for the Trolley. This location is nicknamed, “The End,” for this very reason."
"Taking a stroll through the streets of our neighborhood. The fallen Autumn leaves crunching underfoot. Soothing!"
If it was up to me I️ would give a visit to their platform and experience the adventure that shines through each photograph. Truly a journey through time giving the forevermore importance of preserving history. Yonkers will always be thankful for your interpretive work that is a full display of history!

I️ think more towns should do this...I'm from Fairfield, CT and there aren't really many people who take the time to uncover how the town was established. Same thing for Bridgeport, It used to be a flourished city now it's been developing since. Through tough times. Slowly but surely people are going to uncover how their towns were developed.
